ABOUT ME

About me

I’m Agustina Taborda, an Argentinian musician based in Galway, Ireland. My main instrument is the bandoneón, which has deep roots in Argentine folk and tango music. That tradition has shaped a big part of my musical journey, leading me to play in various tango groups and orchestras like Vito Sputnik, Duelo Criollo, Quinteto Gabriel de Pedro, Orquesta de Señoritas, Uansan Laxos, and Papas C, among others.

I’ve also explored the bandoneón in other genres, collaborating with artists and projects like Rodney Owl, Bajomundo, Jamie Toomey, Mila Maia, Poca y Agus, The Curly Organ, and May Fly to the Moon. Besides that, I regularly compose and improvise piano music for silent films at Silent Cinema Galway.

In recent years, I’ve been incorporating keys and electronic instruments into my music, which led to my solo album I bhfad ar shiúl (2020) and the collaboration Por Mercurio (2022).

I Bhfad ar Shiúl” is a triumph. It creates its own world, like the soundtrack to a Guillermo Del Toro fantasy or your own fevered dreams. Each song is a chapter, each voice a character and every melody a dance…
…In the process of creating the album Agustina learnt to record herself, starting with acoustic sounds and slowly adding more electronic elements – as a result the album manages to sound warm and natural, exciting and new, enchanting and ethereal all at once. It is genuinely brilliant and one of the best of the year so far, no doubt. (David Boland – NotBad)

If you need to travel – both around the world and in time – look no further: I bhfad ar shiúl will take you right where you need to go… (Domi Colomer – Yodel Studio)
